Hi readers, welcome to another training session. Today we are going to talk about the power of showing up. What does it mean to show up? Showing up can hold several different meanings but what I want to focus on for this post is consistency. When someone is able to show up for something, it shows a level of commitment to whatever it is they're showing up for, That could mean anything such as events, workouts, friends, and even yourself. However, showing up is easy when things are easy. The real challenge is showing up even when things are challenging. Showing up for that workout that you know is going to be difficult or when you're already sore. Showing when you work is redundant but you know it's necessary. Or even showing up for yourself by having healthy habits that can help you get to the next level.
Here's some ways you can start showing up:
Take things one step at time Literally one step at a time is the best way to go about anything. One step is a way you can break things down so the bigger picture won't seem too overwhelming. Doing this can allow you to show up consistently and not feel burnt.
Prioritize your needs Showing up for yourself can look like not checking your phone first thing in the morning. When you're on social media, emails, and other forms of media, you checking in on other things except yourself. It's important to prioritize needs over trivial things so you can show up in the world as your best self. Do yourself a favor and take that needed time off, say no to things you don't want to do, and listen to your body.
Practice positive self talk In a previous blog post, I talked about self talk and how to build it up. It is imperative that you watch the way you talk to yourself. It is a form of showing up for yourself and others. Be kind to yourself when you do great things and also be kind to yourself when things aren't going so great.
Good consistent work This one is for my people who like to work out. Often times people want to go crazy in the gym by working out as hard as they can. After working out it super hard, it then leaves them sore and now they can't workout for a couple days. It's better to go a little easier if it allows you to continue showing up. You'll soon see how much progress you make when you're consistent in doing the work but not overworking yourself.
Embrace the suck and be patient Early in any journey, it's going to be very slow. You're not going to know what you're doing but the more you keep showing up, the better you'll get. Stay patient and focus on showing up to do the work. Showing up is hard when things aren't moving in the direction you want but those are able to keep on pressing are the ones who end up succeeding in the end. Love the work and showing up becomes that much easier.
Thank you so much for taking time to read this. I encourage each and every single one of you to keep showing up for whatever it is you're working towards. Things do get better when you're consistent in the work you're putting in.
That's all for todays training session and I hope to see you all again next time for another one.
